The South Wake Storm Youth Sports Association first started in the mid-90s, with youth sports leaders in our community responding to the desire for a higher level of baseball to challenge our young, talented athletes. The Storm was associated with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), holding regular season leagues from which all-star teams were formed to compete on a regional, state, and national level. Success came quickly for the Storm, as the top players in our area soon flocked to the Storm Complex on Piney Grove Wilbon Road.
As the baseball landscape has changed, so has our association. Now, we are one of the few programs in our area to host dedicated training facilities for our travel teams.
In 2014, the South Wake Storm welcomed fastpitch softball to the organization. The South Wake Storm is now host to six girls fastpitch teams and two baseball teams, both sports continue to prove that they are competitive powerhouses both on and off the field.
